Leesburg’s First Fine Arts Festival a Hit

The hip, artsy cousin of the Garden Festival came to town–the cousin you’d actually like to see again! Leesburg really did it up right. What a delight! First off, the weather was gorgeous, which made art-seeing leisurely and relaxed. Even with crowds, it never felt crowded because people moved calmly through the tents and just soaked it in. Just an overall cool atmosphere.

Artisans from around the country were here displaying and selling their wares. And using mediums I hadn’t seen before. Although I wasn’t permitted to photograph the art, I did manage to snatch a fab website. Out of Paradise was incredible. Using silk, this artist creates the most realistic, photograph-quality pieces I’ve seen. Did I mention he uses silk? And by hand? Unbelievable!

Also had a chance to finally meander through Chimole, one of the newest galleries in Leesburg that features Honduran art. The owner, Yovanna Reiser, set it up like a true gallery, with feature lighting, lively music, and even a comfy couch facing some beautiful pieces. I just wanted to stay on that couch soaking it up in with a good cup of coffee.

Oh, and did I mention the entire event was free? Don’t miss it next year!

On the road again,

Ms. Thrifty
