Claire’s at the Depot

Front of the restaurant. Parking in front and on both sides.

Foodies lost in Warrenton, fear no more. Claire’s at the Depot Restaurant is a sweet little spot for an ideal girls’ afternoon out or the adventurous palette. And there are some lovely items on the menu.

A view from the back dining area.

A few days ago I joined a couple friends at Claire’s which, aptly named, was once a train station. Behind the restaurant is a bridge and walking/running path. The train turn-about is fenced off on the path with information on how it once operated. And inside the restaurant has a lovely feel with its wood beams across the ceiling, dark floors, arched doorways, and white table treatments.

We sat in the back next to a wall of windows looking out on the brick patio. I bet dining al fresco is lovely in the warmer months. An herb garden sits on the periphery of the patio, and lights are now strewn on the trees for a festive seasonal touch.

Sun-dried tomato and mascarpone ravioli

The saffron risotto with chicken

Our waitress was prompt, attentive, and friendly (which is always a plus). The lunches were affordable and varied; from soups to duck confit quesadillas, there was quite a range. I decided on one of the specials, sun-dried tomato and mascarpone ravioli. My friends had the quiche and saffron risotto. And after dining, take time to enjoy walking Historic Downtown Warrenton. Talk about charm!

For $11 plus tip, this was one worthwhile lunch experience!

On the road again,

Ms. Thrifty
